A Lifelong Love of the Ocean - My Story

The ocean has always been part of my story.

Many years ago, I completed my PADI dive course, and that only made my love of the sea stronger. I still remember meeting Kelly Tarlton on a visit to Auckland and dreaming of one day becoming an underwater photographer. Every week I watched Jacques Cousteau, completely fascinated by the world beneath the water.

Weekends were often spent on family boats, fishing, exploring, and discovering more of New Zealand’s beautiful coastline and beaches. A snorkel, mask and flippers compulsory. That love of the ocean has never left me.

I still love the feeling of being near the water — the salt air, the early morning beach walks, the calm of the ocean, and even the cold that comes after a swim.

That is where Salty Surf & Co. comes from.

I wanted to create a New Zealand beach-to-street clothing brand that reflects that coastal life, but also answers the practical side of it — warm hoodies, cozy layers, and quality pieces you can pull on after a swim, on a chilly walk, or for everyday living.
